Prodn. of anode segments for digital or symbol display tubes involves passing a terminal wire through a glass or ceramic base plate at the site of each anode segment, sepg. all wires flush with the viewing side of the plate, and then forming electrically conductive layers on this side in the form of the anode segments and coating these with a phosphor. - A mask is formed by screen printing on the viewing side of the plate, provided with the terminal wires, so that the anode segment areas are set free, these are Ni plated by the electroless technique and the phosphor is applied to the Ni plated areas after removing the mask. - The mfg. costs are reduced considerably.
