Reversing control for tractor transmission - has separate reversing gears to provide selection independent of forward ratios

The tractor transmission has a group gear box in line with a high and low range box, operated by simple control levers. A reversing control is fitted with separate reversing cogs so that the reverse ratios can be chosen independent of the forward ratios. - The system enables the driver to select optimum forward and reverse speeds when performing reciprocal movements as for loading. The system also prevents the alternating torques on the forward gears and hence prolongs transmission life. A safety interlock inhibits fast speeds in reverse.
