The above ground lifting platform particularly for motor vehicles, has two columns each with a lifting slide. Rigid or folding arms, adjustable for length and/or direction, are mounted on the slides. - The slides (3) or arms (5) have mountings for a detachable hoise (10), coupling the slides and arms on the columns together, and spanning the position occupied by the vehicle between the columns (2). The mountings can consist of bracket with plug-in fixing devices or split shells, and the hoise can be portal shaped. Alternatively, it can be a flat beam bridging the gap between the arm ends.
