The magnetic hover transport system has one or more supporting or guiding electromagnets (2) of roughly U-sectioned core profile (3), in the guidance or support layout, with an anchor rail as support or guide rail. - Here the rail(1) is also roughly U-shaped in cross-sectional profile. It can be made up from relatively thick plates (10) of correspondingly varying U-profile shape, individual ones in each rail section being mutually offset along the length of the rail. This reduces leakage flux and eddy current loss, by inexpensive means and increases rearward forces with lateral deflection of the magnet.
