Tin-nickel alloy for thin layer coating - is rich in tin, and suitable for preventing fretting corrosion of coupled pts, esp plain bearing races

Fretting corrosion of contact surfaces of coupled pts. undergoing alternating stress, esp. plain bearing races, is prevented by coating =1 of surfaces at risk with a pref. 0.003-0.005 mm thick layer of Ni-Sn alloy contg. 50% Sn, esp. 70% Sn and 30% Ni. Layers may be applied to all sides, which is esp. advantageous on passing mass-produced articles through electroplating baths, and also act as substrates for subsequently applied electrodeposited layers.
