Two magazines 1 are provided, one on each side of a roll 13 from which the fabric is drawn. The rollers 6 are provided in sets of three rollers adjacent the outlet 4 of each sub-magazine 3 so that the rotation of the rollers varies the area of each outlet. The rods slide singly from each sub-magazine 3 on to a respective screw conveyer 8 which spaces the rods and enables a respective unit 9, (10, 11), Fig. 1 (not shown) to move the rods longitudinally into the pocketed fabric.
