D-panthenol anhydrous spray solutions - contg an oil as solvent and an alcohol and a chlorinated hydrocarbon as solubilisers

Sprayable, anhydrous oil-based D-panthenol solns. are claimed. They contain 100 wt.pts. of an oil or oil mixt. that can be applied externally in human medicine; 0.5-25-wt. % D-panthenol. As solubiliser, 10-300 pts. wt. of an aliphatic 1-8C alcohol and 100-500 pts. wt. of a chlorinated 1-2C hydrocarbon (including CFCl3) are used. In aerosol form the solns. are partic. suitable for the treatment and prophylaxis of skin disorders. D-Panthenol has been used for many years for skin care and in the treatment of wounds. The solns. have practically unlimited stability and are esp. suitable for packaging in aerosol form. In use, the volatile components (alcohol and chlorinated hydrocarbons rapidly evaporate to leave a D-panthenol/oil film on the skin. The D-panthenol in this film retains its full biological activity. The oil is pref. paraffin oil and/or a silicone oil and/or a glyceride-based oil. The chlorinated hydrocarbon is pref. CH2Cl2, and the alcohol is pref. isopropanol. In an example, a clear soln. obtd. from 500 g. D-panthenol, 19kg isopropanol, 10 kg. silicone oil and 70.5 kg. CH2Cl2 is filled into aerosol cans with an equal amt. of a suitable propellant.
