The steering column switch has a switching lever, mounted in the switch part, which actuates the switching mechanism . Several contacts are provided for switching individual functions. The contacts, (17, 26, 27) and their respective counter-contacts are mounted on a contact plate (16) forming the bottom end of the switch housing (1). A switching element (25) directly formed on the switching part (5), actuates at least one contact pair (17). Preferably the contacts (26, 27) are rocker mounted and held by plastics bricks (28) with guideways for actuating pins (33, 34). Typically at least one contact pair (17) is formed by prestressed leaf springs.
