In a device for analysing samples of power station boiler feed water and condensate, the choke valve at the steam/gas outlet of the first of a series of vapourisers, arranged one behind the other in the line of motion of the fluid phase of the sample, has a smaller opening for the passage of the steam/gas mixture, than the chokes of the other vapourisers. The opening is of such a size that a height of fluid is maintained sufficient to ensure that largely only the CO2 is removed. Between the first and the following vapourisers there is a conductivity monitor the output signal of which corresponds to the ammonia content of the fluid phase. Considerable savings can be made annually, especially in large installations. The number of samples taken is halved, one analysis only being necessary for both salt and ammonia contents.
