The bear barrel taphole bung driver has a cylindrical housing with a centrally bored endface tube travelled by a plunger at the formed end of a piston riding in the main cylinder. The rear cylinder space (2d) is connected via compressed air line (4b) to a switchable control valve inserted between the air reservoir and the atmosphere. The piston (5) is held back by a spring when not loaded by compressed air. The cylindrical housing (2) has a rearward handle mounting the control switch (9). The housing is closed off at the rear by a screw cap (4) to which is moulded the handle carrying the switch. A compressed air channel (4b) leads preferably from the base of the handle to the rear cylinder space (2d), with the compressed air line connected to the channel entry in the handle base (4a).
