Waste heat recovery from space heating air - is combined with solar heat collection using cylindrical cowls containing water pipes

Waste heat contained in the air rising from battery poultry houses can be recovered and combined with a solar heat collector. Cowls in the roof tops of the poultry houses carry coils of water or of other heat carrying agents through which the warm air must pass before it escapes to the atmosphere. The cowls are made of a plastics material which is transparent to solar radiation so that the heat exchangers also act as collectors for the solar energy. The cowls may be cylindrical and may sit on top of square structures which hold the coils carrying the water.
