The process uses a powdered coating material, which is subjected to an electrical field during application. The field is produced by a CC voltage, with an AC voltage modulating it. The AC voltage is formed from a rectangular or sawtooth pulse train. The DC voltage is low relative to the AC voltage. The coating medium (5) is additionally charged by conveying air, which pulsates synchronously with the electric field (6). The surfaces (2a-c) of the object (2) are coated to the rhythm of the a.c.
