The prods. are stacked on kiln cars travelling through a preheating zone; baking zone; and a cooling zone. Gases in the cooling zone are drawn into a high pressure blower and are then blown through nozzles in the walls and roof of the preheating zone (a). The nozzles are located in rows along the longitudinal axis of the kiln. The gases flowing through the nozzles leave the preheating zone via pipes connected to the suction side of the nozzles so gas circulation is achieved in the preheating zone. The productivity of the kiln is increased 25-30% and the specific fuel consumption is reduced by 10-15%.
