Broom handle fixing to broom-head - uses deformable rubber plug which grips surface of hole in broom-head

A broom handle is fixed to a broom head with a screwed rod (2) which is firmly screwed into the end of the handle (11). An anti-friction washer (4) and a rubber plug are fitted over the head of the rod (2) and secured by a nut. The handle is inserted into the hole in the broom head and rotated. The nut is held by friction so that it is screwed further onto the rod and in so doing compresses the plug axially. This causes the plug to expand radially and grip the broomhead.
