Tilter for rolled metal bars - esp. for edge tilting billets prior to a diamond-rolling pass

The bars, e.g. billets, are turned on their longitudinal axis (A), and/or are located at the desired angular position for a diamond-pass, esp. where the tilter is located between a furnace and the first roll stand of a rolling mill train. The billet is clamped by an assembly (a) of two profiled roll jaws, each actuated by a hydraulic cylinder (HC). A Assembly (a) is located on a swivel arm (b) with a pivot axis (E) coinciding with axis (A). Arm (b) is connected to two parallel swivel arms (c, d) joined via two more swivel arms (e, f) to an actuating device; and the pivot shafts for arms (e, f) lie in the same plane as the common axis (A, E). Used e.g. for tilting billets through 45 degrees, where the tilter occupies only a small amt. of space and does not impair access to the rolling line.
