The purpose of this document is to present the initial analysis for a tilting mechanism to be used in a serial configuration with the spring and damper elements of a typical passive suspension system to decrease the rollover potential of current automobiles. It is proposed that such a system could yield significant improvements in roll control versus current passive and active suspension systems while not simultaneously deteriorating the suspension's performance in other critical areas, which is atypical of the majority of roll control devices/methods. Despite the possible benefits, analysis appears to be non-existent for such a system in the public domain. This paper attempts to at least partially fill this void while encouraging more research on this topic. A full vehicle ADAMS/CAR model was used to explore the potential benefits of the proposed system.
