Earthing switches in series with underground cables - operate with remote control of switches and associated vacuum interrupters incorporated in run of cable

The purpose is to provide local earthing arrangements in medium voltage distribution systems were cables and transformers are buried in the ground. A satisfactory switching arrangement is to incorporate interruptors with associated earthing contacts in the run of the cables. These devices can then be remotely controlled from a central point. In a practical design vacuum interruptors can be employed which have been modified to include the required earthing contact. These interruptors can then be installed with the cables.
