Lap-jointing two hoses - by folding back the end portions once and twice respectively coating the twice folded end portion and folding back the portions

Two hoses are interconnected by overlapping their ends. The ends of the hoses are folded outwardly through 180 degrees over the outer walls of the hoses to produce sleeve portions (I, II). One sleeve portion (I) is folded once through 180 degrees to produce an end sleeve portion (III) which is coated with an adhesive annular layer. The other sleeve portion (II) is folded back over (III) and the adhesive layer. The sleeve portions are pressed together about a solid mandrel introduced into (I) and the bonded hoses are pulled apart. Process is suitable for joining the ends of cellulose hydrate hoses, which have been cut to remove faulty section produced during ring extrusion. Join is simple to make and sufficiently strong.
