The pump casing (1) has radial cylinders (7) in each of which a hollow piston (6) reciprocates. Each piston is pressed against an eccentric (3) on the drive shaft (2) by a spring (12). The rotation of the eccentric causes the reciprocation. Each piston has holes (13) which enter the crescent shaped space (4) between the casing and the eccentric on the suction stroke and through which the liquid being pumped enters. There is a groove (14) round the circumference of the central bore in the casing. This ensures that on the suction stroke all the holes (13) in the piston are uncovered equally regardless of the rotation of the piston about its own axis.
