Persian knot tying device used in mfg. tufted carpets and capable of forming up to 500000 knots/m2 is provided with a gripper composed of a holding needle, and a gripper needle associated pivotally with one another, and one provided with a transverse recess and the othe with a longitudinal groove. For material with up to 106 knots/m2 a finer device of the same design is used.
