The safety device is for the rotary lever fixed to a rotatable top tube of a cattle tie-up device. At its free end, the rotary lever (8) is connected via a joint with a linkage (7) which can be locked by means of a pawl (3) and can be varied in height. The joint assumes a self-locking tensioning - or over dead point position up to taking up an acute angle to the rotary lever (8). The free end of the linkage (7) is connected with a hand lever (2), which is supported so that it can turn in the vertical plane on a segment plate (1) fitted to a stand post.
