The fuel injection nozzle has a needle valve with a piston-shaped end controlling one or more injection ports and with sections forming radial seals in a cylindrical bore, the valve seat being pref. upstream of this bore. The bore (4) is shut off from the combustion chamber by a plate (16, 16') pressed into a mating recess (19, 18). Before pressing home the plate can be conical in shape with a cylindrical edge (17), while the recess widens in a cone towards the inside, its min. dia. being barely greater than that of the cylindrical edge.
