Man-made fibres, esp. in form of a cable or cord, intended to be crimped, are heated e.g. by steaming, and then deposited in a container where they are (com)pressed. The fibres are deposited and pressed whilst still hot. The fibres are heated until in a plstic state or maintained in such condition. Heating may be effected whilst the fibres are being conveyed to the container, and reheated if necessary. Additional heat may be supplied to the container.
