Automatic stacking of sand-lime bricks before hardening - where stacks contain gaps to permit handling by fork lift trucks

During the fully automatic mfr. of the bricks, a press is used to produce rows of brick blanks; and a hoist fitted with clamps is employed to stack the rows on a hardening trolley. While the hoist is transferring the last row (i.e. the top row) of blanks to the trolley, half the clamps are released to permit some blanks to drop out the hoist, so the last row on the stack contains gaps. After hardening the stack, it is turned upside down; and the gaps are used for the ingress of forks on a fork-lift truck, thus facilitating mechanical handling and/or packing of the stacks of bricks. The unwanted bricks are pref. removed via a conveyor belt. Provides simple handling of the finished stacks of bricks.
