A ferroelectric optical material based on solid solns. of Pb-La titanate-zirconate has the general formula Pb0.92 La0.08 (Mg1/3Nb2/3)x Zry Tiz O3 (I) where X + y + z = 1. Pref. ranges of x, y and z are x = 0.02-0.6 (0.02-0.05); y = 0.1-0.85 (0.6-0.7); z = 0.1-0.8 (0.3-0.4). The material has increased transparency over a wide wavelength range.
