The device is for protection of buildings, or parts of buildings, subject to high security risks, such as computer centres, treasuries, switchgear stations, monitoring centres, against break-in with the aid of heat-emitting tools such as oxygen burners. This involves a ducting system (6) of hollow steel units (4), intergrated into walls (1), ceilings, floors and doors or other openings in buildings (2). This is filled with compressed water, or other fluid medium held under pressure. The hollow units, pref. in panel shape and of moderate thickness, may be fitted behind a cover (5). Burners cannot penetrate steel pipes containing cold water under high pressure.
