A correct azimuth reading for a radio signal is determined using two crossed directional aerials and one omnidirectional aerial. The voltage of the omnidirectional aerial is applied to a CRT for its brightness control, while the voltages from the directional aerials are applied to the CRT deflection systems as in. The azimuth is read from the CRT in a direction perpendicular to the line connecting the ends of bright parts of the elliptical direction finding display.
