The tape recorder and playback are used in a system in conjunction with an evaluation circuit, analysing the ECG signal information. During recording normal clock pulses of a clock pulse generator are recorded on the magnetic tape in addition to the ECG signal information. All these signals are supplied to the playback evaluation circuit, as in 2658530. The evaluation circuit has a counter (6) for the appearing of normal clock pulses. The counter energising a bistable switching stage in the signal line, via a possibly programmable detector (7) of the counter state. The bistable stage changes its state at each appearance of a significant signal information, being reset into its original state by a command pulse of the detector. The flip-flop time interval of the switching stage determines the period for the signal analysis.
