Inorganic fibres filter for hot gases - consists of needle felt which contains ceramic fibres e.g. aluminosilicate

The high temp. resistant filter is used to remove solid particles entrained in the gas at temps. of up to approx. 1250 degrees C and the ceramic fibres pref. consist of aluminosilicate, alumina, silica, or Al borasilicate. The aluminosilicate pref. contains 42-64% Al2O3 and 36-58% SiO2, together with B, Ba, Mg,K,Ti,Cr,Fe and/or Ni (or thier cpds.). The alumina pref. contains 95% Al2O3 and 5% SiO2 together with traces of Fe, Cr Ni, Na, Mg, Ca, and/or Cl(or their cpds.). The silica pref. contain 99% SiO2 and 1% Cr2O3. The filter has only a small flow resistance, it is easy to clean, and has a satisfactory mechanical strength.
