The plastics packaging material impervious to water, gives the same mechanical strength in all directions and can closely match the shape of a packaged article. It is made from parallel sheets (2) of easily heat deformed material with a pattern of cells (3, 4) projecting from one side. These are attached to each other by thermal welding or by adhesive. One set of cells can be staggered against the next set of cells on an adjacent sheet. Intermediate flat sheets (1) can be interposed between the deformed sheets (2). Cells (3) can project from alternate sides of a sheet (2) in a pattern, and intermediate sheest (1) interposed. The cells can be honeycomb shaped or polygonal.
