Steel wall elements for industrial furnaces - assembled from steel plates rapidly attached to vertical members of a supporting frame via anchor bolts

The element consists of a frame with vertical pillars(a) joined to horizontal girders(b) forming a base; and diagonal straps(c) join girders(a, b) to make a rigid frame. Pillars(a) possess a row of holes used together with anchor bolts for locating vertical rows of rectangular steel plates (d) which from lining elements. Each plate(d) is fitted with vertical ribs(d1) on its rear side, i.e. not the side covered by the heaped refractory material forming the furnace lining; and each rib(d1) contains a hole entered by an anchor bolt to hold the plates(d) on pillars(a). In a pref. embodiment, each plate(d) has anchors spot welded to a steel grid and used to fix a monolithic layer of refreactory, 5 cm thick, on the front side of each plate. Large plate(d) can be used so short furnace repair times can be achieved.
