The wall of industrial furnaces is made of prefabricated column type elements. The latter are held by external anchors connected to an open support structure. This wall is repaired in a short time. The composite column element has steel plates (13) provided with outwardly-projecting welded webs. This plate is fixed into the meshes of the structural steel grid (12) for supporting fireproof material plates. This wall element is lifted as a complete unit and replaced if part of it is damaged since the composite unit cools rapidly.
