The foresail is supported on the forestay (1) on sliding shackles held between a bottom reel for furling the sail around the stay, and a top swivel (10). The top swivel can be slid down the stay to alter the setting of the sail, with the sliding action controlled by a halyard (11) belayed over a block (12) on the mast. The foresail can be set in any position by the two control sheets without the crew having to leave the cockpit and provides a high degree of control in heavy seas.
