One side of the thermostat is controlled by a first water mixture that contains definite fractions of the hot water and the cold water that flow through the mixer. The second side is controlled by a second water mixture that contains the remainder of the hot and cold water. After contact with the thermostat, the two mixtures are combined to give a final mixture at the desired temp. This arrangement significantly reduces fluctuations in proportionality.
