Compressed gas dryer consists of a vessel with several heat exchanger elements mounted in it. The first and last of these are connected to a circulating heat transfer medium. In between is a third element connected to a refrigerant circuit which is followed by a droplet separator. The system involves precooling the gas then chilling it to condense out the water. This is followed by the droplet separator and the heater to raise the temp. of the gas again. In an alternative arrangement, heat pipes can be used to form the initial and final heat exchanger elements. Used to dry compressed gas streams. The construction is simple and space saving.
