The system for supporting or rivetting trenches, ditches or similar, uses a framework made up from lengthways and transverse beams, and with planks or sheet piles driven home vertically between this and the trench sides. The three-dimensionally form-retentive framework, comprising rigid side frames, has two or more upright supports (4, 5) for each side piece, with one or more top lengthways beams (10) height-adjustably fastened to them. The lengthways beams (6-10) and supports are displaceably mounted on the cross beams (17), for adapting the framework to trench width. The top lengthways beams, at least, have sliding guides (13) for movably holding the planks or sheet piles (21, 22). The guides can be magnets.
