Experiments Using Beams of Unstable Nuclear Isotopes. Interaction Cross Sections and the Radii of He Isotopes

Secondary beams of sup 3 He, sup 4 He, sup 6 He, and sup 8 He were produced through the projectile fragmentation of 800MeV/nucleon sup 11 B primary. Interaction cross sections (sigma sub(I) of all He isotopes on Be, C, and Al targets were measured by a transmission-type experiment. The interaction nuclear radii of He isotopes, R(He)= sqrt sigma sub(I)/ pi -R(T) where R(T) is of the target nucleus, have been deduced from the present sigma sub(I) and the known sigma sub(I) of sup 4 He+ sup 4 He reactions.
