Imitation tree features an elongated element serving as skeleton or reinforcement for the intended tree. The reinforcement is coated, at least over part of its length, with a material having a texture such that it simulates the bark of a natural tree. Suitable materials, depending on the type of tree to be simulated, include cotton flocking, bristles, (comminuted) nylon, rayon, polypropylene, acrylic, polyester, wood flour, powdered chalk, cork flour, rice grains, expanded plaster beads. This material is glued to the skeleton with e.g. polyurethane glue and/or PVAc glue, rubberised pigments etc. Synthetic fibres are used to simulate foliage.
