Automatic unloading of ceramic tiles from kiln cars, to feed conveyors leading to two separate glazing or sorting flow lines. On each kiln car are rows of vertical stacks of tiles and the car is aligned under a portal fitted at each side with a conveyor belt leading to another conveyor at the entry to a flow line. On top of the portal are rails for a motor driven trolley moving in one horizontal direction and carrying a trolley driven vertically; on trolley is a third trolley driven in a horizontal direction at 90 degrees to direction. Trolley has tongs picking up a stack of tiles and depositing the stack on either belt. Each belt leads to a short roller track for transferring the stacks onto conveyors at 90 degrees to belts. Used in very large scale mass prodn. for rapid automatic handling of baked tiles.
