The tonal quality of string instruments e.g. violin, cello etc., is improved by subjecting the body of the instrument to a predetermined level of vibration for a period. The generated effect modifies the characteristics of the instrument for sometime. The vibration generator is an out of balance weight rotated by a motor (3). The motor is strapped to the bridge (4) and is mounted on two plates. A control unit supplies power and includes a current regulator. A stroboscope is used to obtain the correct frequency.
