The scrap has size is not 50 mm., and is free from both acid and ferromagnetic materials. It is mixed with water and fed into at least one hydrocyclone which has a cone with a sharp cone of 30-120 degrees. The cyclone separates the mixt. into two fractions (I, II). The high density fraction contg. the lead flows out of the base of the cyclone. The non-metallic fraction with a lower density travels through an overflow in the top of the cyclone. Both fractions fall onto dewatering sieves. Each fraction pref. falls onto a first, curved sieve, and then travels onto a second sieve. Water recovered from the four sieves is pref. recirculated for remixing with crushed scrap.
