The automatic underground garage is situated directly adjacent to the road kerb and it is arranged under the pedestrian pavement of the road. The cars are lowered by a vertical lift to the underground parking space. The lift shaft is closed at the top with a sliding gate. A data carrying medium such as punched card is used for opening purposes and the parking process is carried out automatically. After the garage sliding gate has opened the vehicle is driven on the lift platform and lowered underground for parking purposes. The gate closes automatically. The vehicle is parked underground and the lift is free again.
