A high speed press has its slide block (S) driven by a pair of parallel shafts (A, B) driven in opposite directions by a pair of meshing gearwheels (Ga, Gb) one end, driving a pair of eccentrics (Ta, Tb) to reciprocate a pair of cranks connected to a pair of cranks attached to pistons (Pa, Pb) attached to the block (S). At the other ends of the shafts are two balance weights of the eccentrics. The gearwheels also have holes (12) through them to offset their centre of gravity, and the whole arrangement is positioned to reduce vibrations due to out of balance forces induced by the rotating parts and reciprocating masses, governed by a given formula.
