The device has a number n of units (5) placed in fixed positions in the same plane and are capable of being grouped in distinct arrangements or divided sub-arrangements. Movable means isolate the arrangement or sub-arrangement so as to represent them separately. Movable means add two or several sub-arrangements so as to display them in a cumulative arrangement, and movable means enable the sub-arrangement to be subtracted. Movable means are also provided for tracing configuration arrangements including recent arrangements. MEans are also provided for constructing figures of plane elementary geometry, and for representing elementary chemical molecules and their valencies.
