Bottle stopper with safety ring - has ring held inside skirt of stopper by radial rim

The bottle stopper has a safety ring which is broken when stopper is first opened. The stopper has a sealing part (3) which fits inside the neck of the bottle, and a threaded outer skirt (2) which screws over the neck. The safety ring (9) fits inside the skirt, and is formed in two parts (6, 7) separated by a weakened line (8). The ring is prevented from moving axially by a radial rim inside the skirt engaging in the weakened line, and by engaging under the rim of the skirt. The ring alsa has an inclined, upward pointing protrusion (11) which lodges beneath the wide part of the bottle neck. The ring is also locally weakened to assist rupture at opening.
