The stone breaking machine rotating about a horizontal axis (3) with a breaking chamber with aset of V shaped impact members (11) each swinging about a stud (10) passing through the arms of the V, and surrounded by a ring of impact blocks secured to the housing, has a base plate (13) fitting into the cup shaped support (8) which retains the studs (10) for easy replacement. Between the impact members (11) and this base plate, is a flanged wear plate (14) which covers the gap between the edge of the cup shaped support (8) and the base plate (13). This wear plate is made up of a ring of sectors, with the gaps between the sectors matching the positions of the studs (10). The base plate has a cone shaped portion with a groove around the bottom, positioned in its centre.
