The tongs are intended to be used under certain conditions, when it would be impossible to use a landing net during fly fishing. The tongs fold up into a small space when not in use and are easy and effective to operate with one hand. They are simple, quick and cheap to manufacture. They consist of flat arms (2, 3, 4) jointed to one another at the ends and in the centre, so that when the arms at one end (5) are brought together, the other arms are forced to extend and come together causing the arms (4) at the opposite end, whose tips are free and which are provided with teeth (10) to close together like jaws.
