Composite structures for flat roofs - involving double layers of bituminous mastics using cold flow mastics for bonding with insulation materials

Covers for flat roofs made by coating a supporting substrate with a plasticised bituminous adhesive offering cohesive bond of =24 kN/m2 normal to the substrate surface, laying insulating material on the adhesive and then bonding an impermeable cover on to the insulating material by a further layer of adhesive sealant. The bituminous adhesives incorporate polyolefins, uncured rubbers, bonding agents and fillers. Suitable for roofs at angles of =30 degrees to the horizontal and required to incorporate two independently laid layers of sealant. The cold worked mastics avoid damage to heat sensitive insulating materials during lay-up. The structure can be assembled under dry or damp conditions.
