The forklift truck accessory mechanism enables it to set down and pick up loads in difficult positions, particularly in corners and against walls. The fork mounting forms, in the central position, the small base parallel to the front of the truck of a trapezium, like the small one, is symmetrical in relation to the truck centre line in the central position, and is formed between two vertical pivot pins in the truck lifting mechanism. A ram, controlled from the driver's seat, can be provided to distort the trapezium, either by lengthening or shortening its diagonal, or by shifting the small base sideways by means of a finger. This shifts the fork sideways, and slews them, for a limited amount.
