Acrylic resin based top dressings for tennis courts - for a smooth sealed surface of controlled roughness

Top or dressing layers for a tennis court are based on a foundation of compacted earth covered with a carpet approx 2 cm. thick made of fine gravel bound by bitumen. Three dressing layers applied successively comprise (5) a blend of bitumen, cement, siliceous sand and water, (6) a coating compsn. based on acrylic resins, applied using a scraper, and (7) a further acrylic coating applied as a spray or wash. Suitable for courts laid with 'carpets' of spread, consolidated, hot- or cold-drawn fitted bitumen. The foundation layers may be treated with ion exchange materials (RTM-RRP 'Reynolds Road Packer' treatment') to suppress accumulation of water or ice. Produces a sealed surface with a smooth face and adequate flexibility. The surface roughness can be selected for the speed of court required.
